The Deadly Bear, by Finn Bennett

It was a cold and misty night when Max was having dinner with his friends during his school camp.

“We’re doing that forest walk after dinner, remember Max?” my friend said. “Oh yeah, I forgot”. Max was afraid of forests, the fear that he would get lost and get eaten alive by a bear or something. But he couldn't tell his friends because he knew they would make fun of him for it.

When Max and all the other kids finished their dinner the teachers announced that the kids were going to do a walk though the forest for a while and they told them to put on some warm clothes, so Max and his friends went to their cabin to get dressed.

When everyone was ready they had to meet outside, so they did. The teachers finally started the walk after a long time of waiting, so everybody got their flashlights and started walking. It was exactly how you’d think a forest walk would go, muddy shoes, numb fingers because of how cold it was, and weird bugs that didn't even look like bugs.

There was an instructor that showed us all the “cool” stuff in the forest. The instructor took everyone into this creepy cave which made Max even more nervous about the forest walk. Inside the cave there was just stuff like rocks, dead plants and this carved drawing on the wall of the cave said to be made by a “caveman” which Max didn't believe but he was still a bit interested for some reason.

Suddenly, Max turned around to go back but there was nobody there, he just realized he'd gotten lost, which was Max’s worst fear in a forest. The carving was deep into the cave so he started walking until he found a two-way turn, which could go right or left. Max went left, choosing by his gut. Little did Max know, he went the wrong way. Max kept going that way until he got stopped by a dead end and realized he went the wrong way. “Aww man” Max said in annoyance. Suddenly Max heard a growl from behind him, another fear for Max when he gets lost in a forest.

“Grrrrrrrr” Max felt fur latching onto his arms “oh hell n-”
